It's Boston Marathon training season! It's such an exciting time of year for the novice and experienced marathon runners of Boston gearing up in layers upon layers and hitting the streets day after day in preparation for the most historic fitness event in Boston.
I've been a runner for the greater part of my life, and as a New England native, I feel a strong connection to Marathon Monday and have a huge amount of respect and admiration for the thousands of runners who devote so much time to cross that monumental finish line. Since the tragic 2013 Boston Marathon bombings, our city has built even more pride into this race and what it stands for. It goes without saying that we are Boston Strong.
In 2014, I was proud to train for and run the Boston Marathon with one of my best friends, Heather. As a member of the Mass Eye and Ear team I raised over $7,000 to earn my number and complete the 26.2. It was a tough winter of training, and a day I will never forget.
Since my own race day, The Energy Barre has been proud to assist many runners in their fundraising efforts to earn their number and push up Heartbreak Hill. We are excited to continue to do that in 2017 as well.
We have reserved studio space to allow numerous Marathon fundraising classes and we have many EB girls who are ready and willing to lead the classes in support of our community of runners. This year, I have personally taken on a couple of runners to support as The Energy Barre's 2017 Marathon Duo. These are a couple of "my people" and I am so proud to see them take on this huge challenge together. Please join me and my EB Girls in supporting their efforts!
The following Marathon Fundraiser classes are $20 each. The class can be purchased under our EVENTS tab. 100% of monies raised will go directly to Krista and Eric's Dana-Farber Cancer Institute fundraising campaign. At the end of each class, one lucky person will win a 5 class package. So, the more events you attend, the greater your chances of winning!
